The Saskatchewan Field Hockey Association has elite programs for boys and girls who wish to pursue the game at a more competitive level. These provincial teams compete annually at the national level and every four years at the Western Canada Summer Games.
The 2010 Outdoor U16 and U19 teams will practice once to twice per week starting May 14, and compete in an exhibition series in Calgary June 26-27. Additionally, the U16 teams will compete in the Outdoor U16 Nationals in Mississauga, ON July 20-25, while the U19 teams will compete in the Canada Cup tournament July 14-18 in Calgary, AB.
The cost to join one of the Outdoor U16 or U19 provincial teams is $150. Program participants must also pay the annual SFHA membership fee of $40 once between April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 in order to be insured. Participants also must pay all travel, accomodation, and food expenses for out of town tournaments and games. Athletes born in 1994-96 may play games for both the U16 and U19 teams, if approved by the Technical Director.
